#TBT Art Institute of Chicago

door lock illustrating snow white and the seven dwarfs 1911 frank l koralewsky

The Art Institute of Chicago shared one of their exquisite treasures in their ARTicle, Work of the Week – Snow White and the Seven Dwarves.  Their post describes a scene of Grimm’s story in minute detail, accompanied by fabulous photos. Six of the dwarves are accounted, with one resting under a toadstool, but the seventh resides on the key, which eventually was lost to history.  A vintage photo includes the image of the key.  Charles Koralewsky completed this work of loving craftsmanship in 7 years.

View this piece of art at my #TBT to #MuseumMonday from one of my many visits to the Art Institute.  Recently visited again, look for photos soon!
